  • 1 medium-sized apple (grated or pureed, seeds and core removed)
  • 1 medium-sized carrot (grated or pureed)
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (or gluten-free alternative)
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Wash the apple and carrot thoroughly. Remove seeds from the apple and grate or puree both until smooth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and rolled oats.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and mix in applesauce along with grated apple and carrot.
  5. Gradually incorporate the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until a sticky dough forms.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Use cookie cutters to create shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and hard, then cool completely before serving.
