Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cubed
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter (for steak)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter over low heat and sauté the sliced onions until caramelized (15–20 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt another 2 tbsp butter; add flour to create a roux. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened.
  4. Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth, then fold in the cooked macaroni and caramelized onions. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. In a separate skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat; season steak with salt and pepper. Sear until browned on all sides (about 2–3 minutes per side).
  6. Add minced garlic to steak; cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  7. Serve steak bites over or mixed into the creamy mac.
