  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 or 8-ounce log of goat cheese
  • maple syrup (or honey)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Coat each strip of bacon with this mixture.
  3. Arrange the bacon on the baking sheet and bake for about 30 minutes until crispy. Let cool slightly before chopping into pieces.
  4. Slice the baguette into thin rounds, brush with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Spread goat cheese onto plastic wrap or parchment paper, sprinkle with chopped bacon, roll into a log shape, and refrigerate until firm.
  6. Slice and drizzle with maple syrup or honey before serving with crostini or crackers.
