  • 1 tablespoon Cajun/Creole seasoning (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 can (15-ounce) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp (1620 count, peeled and deveined)
  • Tabasco sauce (to taste)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley plus sprigs for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Cooked rice

Instructions

  1. Heat canola oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Sauté chopped onion, green bell pepper, and celery for 10–12 minutes until softened.
  3. Add minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, thyme, cayenne pepper, and bay leaf; stir for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Pour in tomato sauce and water; bring to a boil then reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 8–10 minutes.
  5. Stir in shrimp; cook for 1–2 minutes until pink and cooked through.
