Prepare the Ingredients
- Thinly slice the apple and set aside. Chop the dried cranberries if they are large.
- Slice the cheddar cheese if not pre-sliced.
Assemble the Sandwiches
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of four slices, layer cheddar cheese, apple slices, and cranberries. Drizzle honey over the top if using.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
Grill the Sandwiches
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the other side is golden brown.
Serve
- Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.
