Ingredients
  

Bread
  • 8 slices sourdough bread or your choice of bread
Cheese
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese sliced
Fruit
  • 1 medium apple thinly sliced
  • 1 cup dried cranberries chopped if large
Butter
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
Honey
  • 2 tablespoons honey optional for sweetness

Method
 

Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Thinly slice the apple and set aside. Chop the dried cranberries if they are large.
  2. Slice the cheddar cheese if not pre-sliced.
Assemble the Sandwiches
  1. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. On the unbuttered side of four slices, layer cheddar cheese, apple slices, and cranberries. Drizzle honey over the top if using.
  3. Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
Grill the Sandwiches
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the other side is golden brown.
Serve
  1. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.
