Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an ungreased tube pan.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, whip egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. In another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry mixture into the whipped egg whites using a spatula.
  4. Drizzle in vanilla extract and fold gently until fully incorporated.
  5. Pour the batter into the tube pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Invert the pan onto a wire rack immediately to cool completely upside down.
