Method
Prepare the Baking Sheet
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the Caramel
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Allow to boil for 5 minutes without stirring, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Coat the Crackers
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the crackers, ensuring they are well coated.
Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, until bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes.
Add Toppings
- If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts over the warm caramel crackers.
- Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
