Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk warm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Icing
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon espresso strong brewed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the egg, salt, and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Make the Filling
  1. In a bowl, mix cocoa powder, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and softened butter until combined.
Assemble the Rolls
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Spread the filling evenly over the dough and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  4. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 8 equal pieces.
  5. Place the rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Prepare the Icing
  1. In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add powdered sugar, espresso, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
Serve
  1. Drizzle the espresso cream cheese icing over the warm cinnamon rolls and serve.
