Method
Prepare the Crust
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine flour, softened butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x9 inch baking pan to form an even layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
Make the Filling
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and the egg. Mix until well combined.
- Fold in the chopped dried figs gently.
Bake the Bars
- Pour the cream cheese filling over the baked crust and spread evenly.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the filling is set.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
