Meatball Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 large egg
Marinara Sauce
  • 1 can San Marzano tomatoes 28 oz
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar

Method
 

Making the Meatballs
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Shape mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear meatballs on all sides until golden brown (8-10 minutes). Remove and set aside.
Preparing the Sauce
  1. In the same skillet, sauté chopped onions until translucent.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  3. Pour in canned tomatoes and sugar; season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low for another 30 minutes.
