  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring (gel)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Baking Process
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar and vegetable oil until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by buttermilk and vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in red food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  5. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just blended.
  6. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely on wire racks before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
