Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice To prevent browning
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Adjust based on apple sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter For sautéing the apples
For the Turnover Dough
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed if frozen
  • 1 egg beaten For egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon sugar For sprinkling on top

Method
 

Prepare the Apple Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples, lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Toss to coat evenly.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and sauté for about 5 minutes until slightly softened. Remove from heat and let cool.
Assemble the Turnovers
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 squares.
  3. Place a spoonful of the apple filling in the center of each square. Fold the pastry over to form a triangle and press the edges to seal.
  4. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake the Turnovers
  1. Place the turnovers on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
