Ingredients
  

  • 3 apples chopped apples About 3 cups, chopped.
  • 2 tablespoons water Helps cook the apples.
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter Or coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup Adds natural sweetness.
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon The star spice in this recipe.
  • teaspoon fine sea salt Enhances flavor.
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract For extra depth of flavor.

Method
 

  1. Start by cutting the apples into same-sized pieces, aiming for about ½-1 inch cubes to ensure even cooking.
  2. Place the chopped apple pieces into a skillet along with 2 tablespoons of water. Cover the pan and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the apples start to soften and most of the water has been absorbed.
  3. Add one tablespoon of salted butter (or coconut oil) to the skillet. Stir well to coat all the apple pieces evenly, then continue cooking for another 5 minutes while stirring every minute or so until they reach a desirable softness.
  4. Add maple syrup, ground cinnamon, fine sea salt, and pure vanilla extract to the skillet. Stir everything together until well mixed and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes while stirring frequently.
  5. Keep cooking until the apples reach your preferred level of softness, taking care not to overcook them. Once done, remove from heat and they're ready to serve!
