Ingredients
  

Cake
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp green food coloring adjust for desired color
Decoration
  • 1 cup chocolate chips for eyes
  • 1 cup red gel icing for blood

Method
 

Bake the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add egg, vegetable oil, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in boiling water until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
Prepare the Frosting
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream, mixing until smooth.
  3. Add vanilla extract and green food coloring, mixing until desired color is achieved.
Assemble the Cake
  1. Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate.
  2. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second cake layer on top.
  3. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the green frosting.
  4. Use chocolate chips to create eyes and red gel icing for blood decoration.
