Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  3. Add the egg, softened butter, and activated yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a cohesive dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl and cover it with a damp towel. Allow it to rise in a warm place for approximately one hour or until it has doubled in size.
  6. While waiting for the dough to rise, mix together melted butter, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, oregano if using, and chili flakes in a small bowl. Stir in chopped green onions.
