Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef Choose lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 medium onion (chopped) A mild onion adds sweetness and depth.
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced) Fresh garlic infuses the sauce with aromatic goodness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning This blend of herbs enhances the overall flavor.
  • 1 14 ounce can diced tomatoes (with juices) Canned tomatoes provide a rich base for the sauce.
  • 1/3 cup chicken or beef broth Broth adds moisture and extra flavor.
  • 3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream Cream creates a luscious and velvety sauce.
  • 1 pound uncooked potato gnocchi Store-bought gnocchi makes preparation quick and easy.
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese Fresh cheese melts beautifully and adds a savory finish.
  • Salt & pepper Season to taste.

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef along with chopped onion for about 7-10 minutes until fully cooked. If there's excess fat in the pan, carefully spoon most of it out before moving on.
  2. Once the meat is browned, stir in minced garlic and Italian seasoning, allowing them to cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the canned diced tomatoes, broth, heavy cream, and uncooked gnocchi into the skillet. Stir everything together well, ensuring that the gnocchi is submerged in the liquid mixture.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer by covering the pan and reducing heat to medium. Let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. After 5 minutes, uncover the pan and give it another stir before continuing to cook for an additional few minutes until the gnocchi are tender and cooked through.
  6. Finally, stir in grated parmesan cheese along with salt and pepper according to your taste preferences before serving immediately.
