Mediterranean Steak Bowl

A delightful fusion dish that combines juicy grilled sirloin steak with an array of fresh vegetables, grains, and creamy tzatziki sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb sirloin steak about 1-inch thick
  • 3 tbsp olive oil for marinating and drizzling
  • 2 cloves garlic minced, adds flavor depth
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice fresh, for zestiness
  • 1 tsp dried oregano classic herb used in Mediterranean cuisine
  • 1 tsp dried thyme complements the other flavors beautifully
  • ½ tsp salt enhances the overall taste
  • ¼ tsp black pepper adds a hint of spice
  • 2 cups cooked grains brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice as a base
  • 1 cup roasted chickpeas optional for paleo or keto diets, adds crunch
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes halved, introduces freshness
  • 1 whole cucumber diced, provides crunch and hydration
  • ½ whole red onion thinly sliced, adds a sharp flavor contrast
  • ½ cup kalamata olives pitted, brings briny goodness to the bowl
  • cup feta cheese crumbled; optional for dairy-free versions
  • ¼ cup fresh herbs parsley or dill, chopped for garnish and flavor enhancement
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt plain; substitute coconut yogurt for dairy-free option
  • ½ whole cucumber grated and squeezed dry for tzatziki preparation
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice fresh, enriches the tzatziki sauce
  • 1 clove garlic minced for tzatziki flavoring
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped, elevates tzatziki's freshness profile
  • to taste salt & pepper seasoning to enhance the tzatziki flavor profile
  • 3 tbsp olive oil additional oil for vinaigrette preparation
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice fresh, brightens up the vinaigrette dressing
  • 1 tsp honey omit for Whole30 compliance; adds sweetness if desired
  • 1 clove garlic minced again for vinaigrette depth of flavor
  • ½ tsp dried oregano complements vinaigrette flavors nicely
  • to taste salt & pepper additional seasoning as needed

Method
 

  1. Mix marinade ingredients together in a bowl before coating the sirloin steak thoroughly with it. Allow the steak to marinate in the refrigerator for anywhere from 30 minutes up to 4 hours.
  2. In another bowl, combine all the tzatziki ingredients: Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, minced garlic, fresh dill along with salt and pepper to taste before chilling it in the fridge until ready to serve.
  3. Whisk together all vinaigrette ingredients including olive oil, lemon juice, honey if using, minced garlic and dried oregano until well combined.
  4. Sear your marinated steak in a hot skillet over medium-high heat cooking each side for about 4–5 minutes until it's beautifully browned on both sides while remaining tender inside; allow it to rest before slicing thinly against the grain.
  5. Assemble your Mediterranean Steak Bowl by layering cooked grains at the bottom followed by sliced steak then topping with cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, red onion slices alongside olives and feta cheese if using; drizzle generously with tzatziki sauce and vinaigrette before serving straight away!
