Ingredients

  • 2 cups Heavy Whipping Cream Use high-fat cream for a rich and creamy texture.
  • 1.5 cups Whole Milk This adds smoothness without overpowering the flavor.
  • 1 cup Orange Juice Fresh squeezed, from about 3 oranges.
  • 1 cup Sugar Sweetens the mixture perfectly, balancing tartness from the oranges.
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Extract Intensifies the orange flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract Adds depth and warmth to the overall flavor profile.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances all the flavors in this luscious dessert.

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine together the heavy cream, sugar, orange juice, whole milk, orange extract, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. If you desire a more vibrant color, add in food coloring at this stage and mix in well to achieve your preferred hue.
  3. Pour everything into an ice cream maker and process according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  4. Cover the top of the ice cream with plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for 4-6 hours or overnight to harden fully.
  5. Let the ice cream sit out for a couple of minutes before scooping to make serving easier. Enjoy your refreshing homemade Orange Ice Cream!
