  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • cup baking soda
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and brown sugar. Stir in active dry yeast and let sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into small pieces, rolling each into bite-sized balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water to a boil and carefully stir in baking soda.
  6. Boil each pretzel bite for 30 seconds before transferring back to the baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
