Method
Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Beef
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
Combine Ingredients
- Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta and frozen peas (if using) to the skillet. Stir until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
Serve
- Serve the creamy ground beef pasta hot, garnished with additional cheese if desired.
