Ingredients
  

  • 3 very ripe bananas Peeled and mashed
  • cup butter Melted for richness
  • 1 large egg Helps bind the ingredients together
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar Brown sugar can be used for added flavor
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Enhances sweetness and aroma
  • 1 ½ cups unbleached all-purpose flour Gives structure to the bread; bleached flour can also be used
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda For leavening; or 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder can be substituted
  • 1 pinch salt Balances the sweetness of the bread

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 F (175 C).
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, place the mashed bananas and stir in the melted butter until well combined.
  3. Add in the egg, sugar, and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are blended seamlessly.
  4. Gently fold in the flour, baking soda, and pinch of salt until just combined; be careful not to over-mix.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 8x4 inch loaf pan and bake for one hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let your banana bread cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
